Hi everyone!! I know I haven't uploaded any new builds here in a while, but that's because I've been working on a big overhaul to my dA page. I've made the decision to make my gallery here more of a "Pokedex" in the style of the Pokedex from the first game I played: Pokemon Blue. I've already uploaded the first, Kakuna:
As you can see, this means that dA is no longer going to house my complete, full, and color versions of the photos I take of my Pokemon builds.
I made this decision for a couple reasons. For one, while I still would like to keep uploading my works to dA, it's not the same as it was even a few years ago.
The other, which I would say is bigger than the first: I've always wanted to have a uniform "Pokedex" for my builds. I still have a goal of making every Pokemon (albeit an out of reach goal, most likely), so having a National Pokedex that I can have that's easily accessed has always appealed to me. And to me it seems that dA is the best place for me to do that for now.
So that's what I'll be doing!
So as I have the time (and also to not spam everyone's inboxes with new uploads), I will be slowly updating my gallery to these Pokemon RBY style posts, and deleting the other Pokemon papercraft (or at least putting them in Scraps, I'm still a little undecided on that part).
Each entry will feature the following information:
-BW photo of my build -Pokemon's National Dex Number, Name, and Species (aka Catergory)
-The template designer -The date it was "captured", meaning build finished
-My favorite Pokedex entry for the Pokemon from the core games
Of course, my builds will still be available in their full versions on my other social media, which I would rather focus on. Main account is my Instagram: kitziecrafts which I post daily around 9:30 am Eastern Time Zone. Posting schedule there is all WIPs I've done of a build before posting the completed build. I also post just the finished builds to my Twitter but obviously that is not as active with art (or in general really); completed models are posted the same day as they are posted on Instagram.
I will continue to post any other things I do here in full, like cross stitch and papercraft that aren't Pokemon, since those are not very frequent.
I hope you look forward to seeing this new change to my gallery, and please feel free to check out my other social media accounts!
Hey everyone!!
I figured I'd make a journal talking about what I'm doing now as far as posting (where & when) and a couple other things.
So, for starters, where can you find my work and when? I've recently gotten into a posting schedule of 1 model a week; posted on my Instagram first and foremost. Every Monday I start with a new model and upload the first WIP. Every day after that I post the next WIP until I have no more and then post the final, finished model photo. I usually have about 3 or 4 WIPs so finished models are posting Thursdays/Fridays. It's entirely dependent on how many total WIPs I have, but that's the average.
After it's been posted to Instagram, I'll upload it here, which I'll try to keep up to posting it here the same day it's been posted to Instagram but no promises.
Which means if you'd like to check out WIPs and also get to see my models before they're posted to Deviantart, I encourage you to follow my Instagram: kitziecrafts here!
Last month I hit my papercrafting anniversary: 10 years!! I almost can't believe that it's already been that long, I was just out of high school when I started. I recently culled through my gallery and works and got rid of any that I've decided I want to redo, mostly everything done in my first couple of years of papercrafting because they're 1) not great and 2) I had absolutely NO photography skills. Not that I have a lot of photography skills now LOL, but at least now my photos look somewhat decent.
I keep a record of every papercraft I've done: when it was completed, and for the past 4 or so years, how long it took to build a model; I include both of these in my little "Pokedex" info in every Deviantart upload. My track record so far has been 346 total papercraft completed. Out of those, 242 have been unique Pokemon towards completing the National Pokedex, but after culling through those and deciding which need to be redone, I have only completed 178 Pokemon out of the National Pokedex. Not a lot in hindsight LOL.
I guess a goal for this first papercrafting year of a new decade for me is to get that number up to at least 250 Pokemon done out of the whole National Dex! I have until next August so it seems pretty reasonable to me, especially since I would like to fit a couple non-Pokemon papercraft in in the near future and my schedule/back don't always permit me as much time to papercraft as I'd like.
Anyways, to close out, if anyone has any ideas for Pokemon they'd like to see, I'm always open for ideas on what to add to my "What to Build Next" list!
Stay safe! <3

Paperthon 2 - It ReturnsAs I'm quickly approaching my fifth Papercraft anniversary, and the 100 watchers mark, I've decided to celebrate. So I will soon be hosting the Second Not-Officially-Annual-Yet-But-I'm-Very-Much-Planning-For-It-To-Become-Annual Paperthon! But that name's an awful mouthful, so let's just call it Paperthon 2 .
For those of you who are new watchers, or may have just stumbled upon this journal by chance, Paperthon was a major event I held last August, where I rewarded Rakogis Medallions for a series of challenges, which could be redeemed for all sorts of fabulous prizes! If you want to learn more, you can check out last year's contest here. And if you want to attempt last year's challenges now, just for fun, the answers are posted
